National Cyber League – Capture The Flag
Skills and Experience Course
Application deadline for Fall 2024: Sunday, August 25 11:59 pm CST.
The City Colleges of Chicago is pleased to offer its students a next-level opportunity to compete in cybersecurity competitions with its National Cyber League – Capture the Flag (NCL-CTF) class. Utilizing subject matter experts (SMEs), student presentations, student-led discussions, and hands-on cybersecurity tools, the students will hone their “hard” and “soft” skill sets as they compete individually and in teams.
Course topics provide theoretical insight on how to protect computer networks as well as hands-on implementation opportunities, by allowing students to, ‘think like the attacker’. Students will utilize the same tools and penetration testing methodologies employed by ethical hackers and learn updated computer security resources that describe new vulnerabilities and innovative and protective methods to defend systems.
In order to serve both cybersecurity professionals and those looking to break into the industry, this course will consist of a required, Tuesday–evening, technical–learning session and Thursday–evening group/team practice session.
Class size is limited to maximize the students’ ability to interact and equally contribute to the course’s collaborative learning environment.
