Salesforce is a leading customer relationship management (CRM) platform that allows businesses to combine marketing, sales, commerce, service and IT functions. The technology is designed to improve business relationships and help companies stay connected to customers, streamline processes, and improve profitability. The Salesforce platform provides technology for storing customer and contact information, recording service issues, managing marketing campaigns, and conducting other tasks in a central location.
In this free online program, students will learn Salesforce foundational skills including navigation through online resources and setup of individual Salesforce developer environments. Students will work in their own Salesforce Developer and Trailhead accounts to build a deeper understanding of how to create applications in the Salesforce platform.
Note: This program is currently open to Chicago residents only.
Students will take two classes over the course of eight weeks to build their skills:
This course will introduce you to Salesforce foundational skills including navigation through online resources and setup of individual Salesforce developer environments. You will be introduced to the Salesforce platform and guided through the various career paths offered within the ecosystem. You must have access to a computer with an internet connection.
This class is a prerequisite for the Salesforce Fundamentals class.
Build upon the Salesforce Overview by working with Trailhead and deepening your understanding of administering on the Salesforce platform. This course will consist of lecture, discussion, and hands-on assignments. You will learn Salesforce data tools including object, fields, reports, dashboards, and security as well as user interface tools including Page Layouts, Lightning Record Pages, and Lightning Apps.
Students must successfully complete the Salesforce Overview class before they are automatically enrolled in the Salesforce Fundamentals class.

Only basic computer skills and a desire to learn the technology are needed; database experience is helpful but not required.
